Our Auburn member spotlight for April is Jane Farr! Originally from a smaller farming community in Southern Illinois called Scheller, she moved from Illinois to Union Springs in 2000 to work for Bonnie Plant Farm. From there she gained residency so she could attend Auburn University and earn her BS in Horticulture. She moved to Auburn in 2004 just before her last semester to accept a position with the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station on Auburn's campus. Jane is a loyal 5:15 AM member with her running buddies (pictured with her below), has recently joined our 100 class club, and is celebrating her 1 year anniversary at True40! Jane we are so proud of all your hard work and love having you in our True40 Family!
- How do you wind down from a stressful day?
Two things that help me unwind are talking to my husband (and sometimes begging for a foot rub) and loving on my three doxies, Tripp, Rowdy and Roxie. A glass of wine helps too!
- If you could go anywhere for a vacation, where would you go?
Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE traveling. There are several places on my bucket list but the two that stand out the most are Hawaii and Tahiti.
- What's your favorite part of your workout?
I love that on a daily basis, we are encouraged to listen to our body and work to the level we need to for that day. I also love that True40 gives us a full hour of ab work. Nothing feels better than finding sore abs a day after class. My favorite ab exercise is the minute plank. There are so many variations and it’s a great way to gauge your fitness. When I started True40, I could barely make it 30 seconds on my knees. Now I’m doing planks in the TRX straps so I can definitely see improvements!
- What's your least favorite?
hat would have to be horse pose! I’m shaking in minutes!
- Name 3 things you always have in your purse?
Hand lotion, several tubes of LipSense and packages of green tea, just in case I need a pick me up.
- What is the best health/fitness advice you’ve ever received?
Make fitness and taking care of your health a top priority. Too many women put themselves last behind taking care of family needs. I learned a long time ago that I can’t care for my family properly if I don’t care for myself. I pencil my fitness dates into my calendar on Saturday before anything else is scheduled for the coming week. The 5:15 AM class allows me get my work out in before my family wakes up.
- How do you spend your Saturday mornings?
Saturday mornings are spent getting in a long run with my running buddies(also my True40 workout buddies) followed with breakfast, coffee and girl talk.
- Who is your biggest advocate?
My sweet husband Billy Farr.
- What does community mean to you?
Community means a circle of support, people coming together to lift each other up and grow in positive and productive ways.
- We are our biggest critics, so what is one thing you love about yourself?
I’m confident in myself, in my beliefs and I’m not afraid to speak up and be direct.

Chef Ippy Aiona! I’d never eaten a raw oyster in my life and was never tempted to try one until I watched him make Hawaiian Chili Pepper Sauce Oysters at OysterFest.
- How do you stay true to you?
Remembering that I am only granted the moment I am in. The past is behind me and the future is not guaranteed.
